# Get Post

> Fetch a post by its share code.

Fetch a post by its share code.

## Behavior

* `files` lists every file in the post, in order. `file_count` is its length; a post with more than one file is an album.
* `url` is the share page. Each `files[].url` is the direct file. On private posts the file and thumbnail URLs are signed and expire after 24 hours; fetch the post again for fresh ones.
* `files[].name` is what [Delete File](/api-reference/endpoint/posts/delete-file) takes.
* `files[].thumbnail_url` is a still frame for videos uploaded with [`POST /upload`](/api-reference/endpoint/upload), and `null` otherwise. `width`, `height`, `size` and `mime_type` are `null` when unknown.
* `liked` is whether you have liked the post.
* `moderated` and `restricted` are only present when you own the post. A restricted post keeps its privacy, is hidden from Discover and profiles, and cannot be made public.
* **Who can see what:**
  * Drafts are visible only to their owner.
  * Private posts are visible to their owner and to users the owner has given access to.
  * Team posts are visible only to members of that team. They have `team_id` set and `like_count` and `liked` are `null`, since team posts cannot be liked.
  * Posts whose owner is suspended are visible only to the owner.
  * Anyone else gets `404` with type `not_found`.
* A moderated post is returned in full to its owner, with `moderated: true`. Anyone else who could otherwise see it gets `403` with type `moderated`.
* If the post's author has blocked you, the response is `403` with type `blocked`.
* Shares a rate limit bucket with [`GET /users/{id}/posts`](/api-reference/endpoint/users/posts).

## Errors

| `400` | `invalid_request` | `code` is not a valid share code |
| `401` | `unauthorized` | Missing or invalid key, or a team key |
| `403` | `moderated` | The post is moderated and you are not its owner |
